(in the future i will sit)

In the future
I will sit by the fat manatee
in her pink hat
on her iron wheels, smiling
and with nothing
but gravel and rapidly browning grass
beneath her prodigious shade. That's the kind of place
where you can step out of reality for a bit,
or out of what you thought was reality, and remember
there's more than one way
to live this life.
